Job Title: Weighbridge & Forklift Operator

Location: Hereford, occasionally in Bromyard

Location: In person at Lugg Bridge Quarry, Hereford

Reports to Management

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Weighbridge & Forklift Operator at our recycling centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the weighbridge, loading and unloading customers and suppliers using a forklift, and performing manual handling tasks.

Additionally, the role involves processing and cleaning non-ferrous metals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the weighbridge, recording all vehicles & weights entering/leaving the site.
  • Record weights & material type by grade and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Comply with Waste Management, Scrap Metal Merchant & Operators licensing guidelines.
  • Deal with members of the public and businesses both in person and via telephone/email, providing high-quality customer service.
  • Communicate and actively support members of the team throughout the day.
  • Raise purchase tickets, manually input data, utilise programmes such as Microsoft Office and bespoke weighing software (training provided), and maintain accurate records.

    • Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role and environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to operate a forklift for loading and unloading tasks.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.

    The Role: This is a job opportunity for a Quantity Surveying role – operating in the commercial department, reporting directly to the MD / Commercial Director.

    Responsibilities:

  • Tender bid management, (tender stage assessment of works, attending tender site visits, quotation development)
  • Pre & post-contractual negotiations
  • Contractual and commercial risk control
  • Account management and cost control
  • Valuation and variations assessments
  • Cost / value reporting
